Studio Rocked By Allegation Executive Failed to Harass Women

“We had heard rumors for years that he was a decent person, but we never imagined just how decent he was.”

Rodney Scott, a VP of Development at MFW Pictures, one of Hollywood’s most successful studios, was dismissed on Monday after stories broke that he had failed to sexually harass any of his subordinates in a career that goes back decades.

In a statement Monday afternoon, the studio stated, “We received several credible reports this week that Rodney Scott violated corporate policy by not taking advantage of his position to secure sexual favors from staff.  We were saddened to learn that this was not an isolated instance, but rather that Mr. Scott has engaged in a pattern of decent behavior that goes back decades.  We want to stress that Mr. Scott does not represent the values of our studio.  As such, effective this morning, he has been relieved of his duties.”

While there were declarations of shock throughout the industry, many admitted there were signs of problems for years.

“I’ve known Rodney for a long time,” one industry insider confided.  “There were always rumors that he was a decent guy. We all heard the whispers. At one point there were stories that he would go home to his family every night and have dinner with them.  Crazy stuff.  I blame myself for not being more vocal about it now.”

Eileen Rumson, who worked for Scott up until a few years ago agreed.  “There were always whispers he didn’t get drunk, snort a lot of coke, get naked and force himself on interns like the other executives – but you don’t want to believe those things are true.  I should have known something was wrong.  One day I bent over to pick up a pencil I’d dropped right in front of him and — nothing.  Not even a demeaning lewd comment.  I just froze – I didn’t know what to do.”

Studio President, Jonathan Answell held a press conference to address the controversy. “I want to assure everyone that MFW has a strict policy that all executives are to sexually marginalize and harass their staff whenever possible,” he stressed. “We have a proud history in this area – hell, we practically invented the casting couch.  We offer our sympathy to the people Mr. Scott so callously failed to victimize and can only promise that, as a company, we will do better. We are all accountable.  In fact, my own administrative assistant has an outstanding rack and is in for one hell of an afternoon.  Anyway, I hope the action we take today can put this behind us so that we get back to what we do best, making inane, demeaning and offensive movies.”
